Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator cuff repair is a surgical procedure used to treat tears in the group of tendons and muscles that surround and stabilise the shoulder joint. These injuries can cause pain, weakness, and difficulty lifting or rotating the arm.

Dr Edoardo Giovannetti De Sanctis provides patients with precise surgical repair, followed by a tailored rehabilitation plan to restore strength and mobility:

During the operation, we will reattach the torn tendon to the head of the humerus (the upper arm bone) using small anchors and sutures. The goal is to restore the normal anatomy and allow the tendon to heal securely to the bone.

This procedure can be performed through minimally invasive (arthroscopic) techniques or, in some cases, through a small open incision — depending on the size and type of the tear.

After surgery, the shoulder is typically supported with a sling for a few weeks, followed by a gradual rehabilitation program focused on regaining strength, flexibility, and function.

With proper recovery and guided physiotherapy, most patients experience significant pain relief and return to their normal daily activities.
